It's a perfect bed for a cottage style or country bedroom where an antique bed or guest bed may have once stood. It’s a smaller version of the tall Mackintosh bed which has a headboard measuring six feet tall. The light open feel of the little Mackintosh bed comes from the slatted head board and footboard making it an ideal guest bed.

In keeping with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh ethos we've decorated the bed with locally handmade ceramic tiles, the theme continuing throughout the range of Charles Rennie Mackintosh bedroom furniture. Also, we've decorated the central bed splat, with a geometric blackwork pattern. It's a great bed for showing off linens and quilts when it's painted in finishes such as Oyster or Pearl White.

Feedback suggests clients have also used the 'little' Mackintosh bed to furnish loft and apartment style bedrooms or guest rooms with guest beds, which seems appropriate as Charles Rennie Mackintosh is recognized as one of the founders of the modern movement.

The bed in the picture is polished with a Mellow Brown wax. It's a popular guest bed, but it's also possible for the 'little' Mackintosh to be made into a larger king size bed and six and seven foot beds. A king size bed needs larger mattresses, and they’re no problem because we supply made to measure memory foam and pocket sprung mattresses made by Healthbeds.

Libby's Tips: All Revival beds are made from pine i.e. they're pine beds, pine four poster and pine sleigh beds. We use exactly the same techniques as makers have used to make oak beds or mahogany beds for centuries. In fact historically speaking painted and decorated pine beds and pine furniture was prized way above many of the typical hardwood beds and bedroom furniture.

In 1898 at Westdel, Glasgow; Charles Rennie Mackintosh had started to paint this bedroom white, and he continued to use white in all the bedrooms he designed until 1904. Whether you choose to paint the little Mackintosh or not it will certainly make an interesting guest bed
