Clean understated lines and beautifully balanced proportions - that's the Vermont bed. Its slightly distressed hand-painted tongue and groove detailing creates a wonderful light, airy beach-hut feel to any decor.

Think driftwood, beach huts, seashells and long lazy Sunday mornings a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you can't live by the sea in reality, at least the Vermont New England-style bed can take you there in your dreams. You can almost hear the waves…

The Vermont bed is available in a choice of 'weathered', washed, slightly distressed paint finishes evokes the beach houses of New England. Or why not go for the patina wax option for a completely different look? It's available in a range of different tints.

The New England style

Who hasn't dreamed of living by the sea? New England styling conjures up images of weathered, washboard houses and beach huts along mile after mile of almost deserted beaches.

The look is clean, white, bright and incredibly calming making it perfect for the bedroom. The Vermont bed, available in a choice of painted or wax finishes, makes the ideal centrepiece for this particular décor style and also Shaker, 'Mission'-style or Swedish-inspired themes.

Like all our hand-made beds, it's been slightly distressed to add a subtle aged look - as if you've been living by the sea all your life. With the New England bed collection from Revival Beds, life is like one big holiday!

Libby's Tips: Achieving the New England look in your bedroom is fairly simple. If you have floorboards, these can be stripped or painted, softened by woven cotton rugs. Walls can be painted white (there are lots of different shades of white available these days so white décor doesn't have to mean stark).

Go for roller or slatted blinds - or just white calico curtains. Colour can be added with checked or striped fabrics. As the New England style is quite similar to the Shaker and Swedish styles, lots of accessories can be found on the high street. It's a very popular style that never goes out of fashion and is wonderful for the ultimate light, airy, calming bedroom.
